Histories of Art, Science, and Technology in Mexico—Research

2023-ongoing. Online

For the past thirty years, practices of art, science, and technology (commonly known as media arts or digital arts) have experienced a paradigmatic transformation in Mexico, particularly in the capital. They have become mainstream, ubiquitous, and supported by governmentally funded institutions. The project Histories of Art, Science, and Technology in Mexico is an online reference that aims to map and outline the rich histories of artists working with science and technology in Mexico. The project documents the numerous institutions, events (such as festivals and exhibitions), as well as artists and curators that have contributed to the development of these artistic practices in Mexico since the 1990s.

This project was originally created in 2023 by Rodrigo Guzman-Serrano with the support from the Summer Graduate Fellowship in Digital Humanities, Society for the Humanities, Cornell University.

The project is currently in search of funding.
